As a model, you may be wondering if it is worth it to seek representation from a modeling agency. If you’re already getting booked on your own, it may seem unnecessary to fork over a 20% commission fee from each paycheck. Plus, in the age of the social media, it can appear that all of the new top models are making their careers happen on their own, one selfie at a time. While this may be partially true, having representation from a top modeling agency opens door, facilitates national and global connections, and provides you with a support team. In fact, many of the Instagram models you see are actually represented by an agency. Because the industry is so saturated with talent right now, the days of being discovered at the mall, for example, are just about gone. An agency can give you the visibility and experience you need to stand out.
Depending on the type of modeling you do, runway, catalog, fitness or plus-size, having an agency represent you can be deeply beneficial as you start your career. If you are a model in Miami, then you are in luck, because this Florida city is packed with some of the most influential modeling agencies out there. We’ve put together a list of all the modeling agencies in Miami to know about, including internationally acclaimed Wilhelmina, Elite and BMG and some smaller agencies on the rise.

We did not expect any castings this quickly and nothing was ever promised. We didn’t expect to hear of any castings so soon, but Nina reached out to us with great news! She is genuinely happy for us and makes us feel like family already. She has worked tirelessly for us in a very short time and we have had one requested casting for a major brand and now a direct booking. Nina knows what clients are looking for and has helped to well prepare my girls for their meetings.”

Operating out of New York and Miami, NOMAD Management is regarded as one of the most highly-respected modeling industries. They have been in business since 2001, and in 2016, supermodel Coca Rocha joined NOMAD as owner and model. Rocha brings years of experience and a “360 degree view” of the industry.
Rocha says, “Having worked with many of the world’s top modeling agencies for the last decade and a half, I’ve seen first-hand what works and doesn’t work in managing a model’s career. In the past, I’ve publicly appealed to industry leaders regarding the ethical treatment of underage models, transparent agency accounting practices regarding pressures and unhealthy expectations too often projected on models working today. I’m so proud to partner with a group of agents and managers that I’ve personally admired and respected for many years to further those ideals, establishing NOMAD as a world-class agency where the model comes first. My own career is testimony to the fact that no model becomes a success all by themselves – I would not be where I am today without a strong and visionary team around me; the exact same team I now join as a Director and Mentor at NOMAD.
NOMAD flips the script on the typical industry jargon and they refer to their models as clients. The term client typically applies to companies and brands paying for the models’ time and service. With this in mind,, NOMAD nurtures each of their models individuality and consider themselves an agency “for models, created by models.”
Their models consistently book top campaigns and appear in some of the most highly-regarded international publications, but that’s not all. Each model is given guidance and support regarding “essential matters such as accounting, international taxes, contract negotiations, legal referrals, timely visa processing and much more.” You can learn more about their processes and submission guidelines here.
