Her maternity shoots last between 45 minutes to an hour and take place in studio, or outside if the weather is right. Outdoor shoots typically take place in the early evening when the light is soft and diffused.

Sandra Coan has over 18 years of experience in film and digital photography. Her studio is in the Greenwood neighborhood of North Seattle and is comprised of 3 rooms. There is a playroom to keep your children occupied while you’re having your photos taken and a lounge for feeding and soothing your baby. The shooting space is light-filled and airy.

She offers the option to bundle a maternity and newborn photoshoot for the price of $650. A single photography session includes 25 edited images “presented in an online gallery for viewing and ordering as well as a complimentary set of 4×6 prints.”

Belle Boudoir

Cheryl, the owner and photographer of Belle Boudoir, has photographed over 2000 women since she began her career in 2005. The $400 package includes a pre-session consult, hair and makeup, and the photo shoot. The photos are sold separately.

Inglin Photography

Mimi Inglin is the founder of Inglin Photography. She comes from a journalism background and now tells stories through her stunning photographs. She specializes in family, newborn, and maternity photography. Inglin shoots primarily in-home and outside on-location. Partners and older children are encouraged to participate in the photo shoot. Red Poppy Photography

Dana Pelleg is the founder and the heart of Red Poppy photography. She has practiced photography for over 15 years, but it wasn’t until she had children of her own that she turned her practice to newborn and maternity photography in Seattle. She works both in her Queen Anne studio (primarily with newborns) and on location for most other shoots. She loves photographing outdoors and believes that being outside captures “natural and dynamic” pictures.

Pelleg says one of her favorite places to shoot maternity photos is in Discovery Park at sunset. She is also open to shooting in your home if that’s what makes you most comfortable. Grey, cream, and neutral colors photograph well, and she asks that you avoid neon colors or orange and hot pink, as those colors tend to reflect light poorly and do not print well. Most of her clients wear a long dress for a portion of the maternity shoot, then change into another, more casual, outfit.

Sahara Coleman

The women in Sahara Coleman’s maternity photos look radiant. She calls herself a “Life Documenter” and says “Collaborating and making images with clients is so important to me that It is my firm belief that we establish a level of friendship and trust. I am going to do everything in my power to support you through out our time together. I will make sure you are heard and feel respected, and will go to bat for you if needed. Alicen Lum Photography

Alicen Lum has a background in graphic design and photo retouching but it wasn’t until she photographed her own newborn that she found a home in maternity photography. She loves working with children and says,

“By photographing babies and children, I am providing parents with a way to make those memories as beautiful as possible. Although I love to take portraits, I love taking them in a way that creates the most natural and beautiful shots.

Carmen Miller

Carmen Miller specializes in family, newborn, and maternity photography in Seattle. Her photos have a dreamy, effervescent vibe. Miller likes to keep her images sparse and timeless and forgoes trendy props (think huge bows and tutus) for timeless backdrops of wood and bare walls. M Krueger Photography
