What keeps you inspired and motivated in photography?

Photography has brought me closer to the fashion industry which is what I want to get into eventually. I’ve just graduated with a BS in Interior Architecture degree and have been blessed to work at my dream Architecture firm in Vegas for two years now. Hence, doing photography on the side not only helps me decompress, but it also helps me take one step away from leaning towards the fashion world. Besides ambitions, photography gives me an excuse to travel as often as I can, and I’ve had the greatest experience through exploring places, meeting new people, learning about their stories and culture. I’ve made so many incredibly talented friends through photography and just being out there shooting with great energy is the best motivation and often overwhelmingly inspiring.”

2.) Teresa Ortega

Teresa is a San Francisco based photographer who grew up in Los Angeles, California. Her style of photos can be described as minimal, critical, and off.

What keeps you inspired and motivated in photography?

“The beauty in the struggle is what motivates me most as of now. I see how beautiful the people around me are, the blessings of ghetto and hood and street, the communal metamorphoses. My community is what keeps me going and what keeps the culture going. There are those who consume culture and those who drive it forward. I’m lucky to live at the forefront of some academia, some fashion, and music, and thought overall which would be looked at as radical or revolutionary. It’s something I’m trying harder to capture in my photos because I still have a long way to go before I feel that I can say I portray this beauty accurately. ”

3.) Michael Jean

Michael is a portrait photographer based in Ontario, California. Her work is 3D modeling with digital painting. She is currently working on a 365-day portrait series which uses limited resources around her.

What keeps you inspired and motivated in photography?

“What truly keeps me inspired is probably the challenge of creating something new each day against the same wall/background in my room. These limitations push me to think outside of the box and expand my imagination. I believe everyone has their own unique style and perspective when it comes to photography. However, my goal is to pave a new way of thinking and challenge the norm of traditional photography.”

4.) Joelle Grace Rosen

Joelle is an editorial and fashion photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. Her style can be described as retro dream grunge, combining energetic colors with timeless black and whites to create a stylish and surreal portrayal of humanity. When photographing a subject, she strives to make them feel powerful, fearless, and beautiful in their skin.

What keeps you inspired and motivated in photography?

“Inspiration can come in seasons or short bursts, so you have to pay attention. Sometimes you have to force it when you’re not feeling it, which can seem so daunting. I like to surround myself with positive, truthful and motivational friendships, go outside to work, or engage in physical activity. Inspiration can come from anywhere. Sometimes I get inspired by a location I pass by, a feeling, a song, the person I’m shooting, or the style of a movie character. Sometimes it’s just trusting yourself.”

5.) Taylor Jarvis

Taylor is a photographer based in Charleston, South Carolina. Her style is a mixture of editorial and conceptual.

What keeps you inspired and motivated in photography?

“Inspiration is all around us. I’m inspired by Music, Art, poetry, films, my own life experiences (past & present), and hearing other peoples stories. What motivates me daily and keeps me wanting to grow as an Artist is my husband and best friend Brian, friends, family, and loving supporters. I’ve only been doing Pale Girl Photography officially for two years now, so it’s been an exciting adventure thus far. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Everything inspires me: people with obvious talents, people in the streets, people living. What keeps you inspired and motivated in photography?

“My husband, my family, and my friends keep me motivated. They’re the best cheerleaders and motivate me to keep going when sometimes I’d rather lie around and not care about stuff anymore. What inspires me the most is many of the talented photographers and artist I follow on Instagram and seeing an amazing piece of clothing. When I come across a stunning piece of vintage clothing, where the color, the design, and the craftsmen ship are amazing, visions pop into my head with the piece, and I need to have it so I can create a shoot around it.”

10.) Christy Flaherty

Christy is a photographer located in Augusta, Georgia. Her photography style can be described as bringing emotion and story into shoots and creating intimacy. You can see this through her nostalgic and story-driven photos.

What keeps you inspired and motivated in photography?

“I’m inspired by E V E R Y T H I N G — it could be a song stuck in my head, a compelling scene in a film, or the way the streetlights hit my window at night. Once I have a vibe/theme in my head, I can’t really shake it. I’m definitely a planner but I’m also eager and impulsive when it comes to photography, so I’m usually shooting the concept within a week or two. I want to be proud of what I put out, so that keeps me motivated — I’m always learning, trying new techniques, and getting better. I’m pretty competitive (with myself and others), so often I’ll see something that I feel like I could do better. So those kinds of challenges keep me moving and creating.”

It is the coolest thing to be able to create for clients whose vision aligns with yours 😍✨ BUT sometimes you spend so much time creating for others, that you loose touch with what inspires YOU and become trapped into playing it “safe.” Creating isn’t always easy and sometimes it does look like lots of work and showing up anyway! Can any other creatives relate to this? What are the best ways you stay fueled up creatively? 🙋🏻‍♀️ • • • • #discoverportrait #createdtocreate #folkportraits #moodyports #thevisualvogue #orlandophotographer #postitfortheaesthetic #fashioneditorial #portraitpage #featurepalette #forevermagazine #artofvisuals #wpbphotographer #somewheremagazine #miamiphotographer #gritandvirtue #pursuepretty #peoplescreative #makeportraits #fashioneditorial #flanellemagazine #miamifashionphotographer #igers_orlando #freepeople #thatsdarling #fujifilmxt2 #westpalmbeachphotographer #fashionmagazine #fashionphotography #naturallight

I meet my models and clients who are usually strangers, and I have to create an instant bond of trust with them. But creatively challenging myself in these places, whether it is creating a styled shoot with a model, product, or just for the fun of it, I believe is what makes all the pieces come together for me as far as inspiration and motivation.”
