“People often say, “Nothing in life is free…” That is what I thought, until the great people at H Collective told me that I had won a trip anywhere in the world. All I had to do was travel with the other winners and make a human “H”. At first, I was shocked and skeptical but it really happened.
Germany quickly became the destination of choice. Myself and the other winners @lorinadaiana and @victoriabonvicini traveled from different parts of the world for 6 days of collaboration and adventure. This was a trip of many firsts for me. It was the first time I won a trip, the first time I stayed in an Airbnb, the first time visiting Germany and the first time experiencing snow…. Lots of snow.
The girls and I quickly became friends during the trip. We were a group ready for adventure. It was so amazing to hear about their creative journey and to see their talents in action. We started in Berlin with crazy days of exploration and sightseeing. We ate in local restaurants while visiting all the “must see” places in and around the city core. The food, people, and culture were more than I could ever imagine.
Of course, as artists, we were creating content each step of the way while documenting our journey. From sunrise to sunset we explored the city streets, random parks, taking public transit, viewing street art, to visiting historical sites. We even met up with a few local photographers and had an impromptu photo shoot. Our days were filled with fun, laughter, creative insight and respect for each other’s artistic discipline.
Our adventure continued with a train ride to Munich for more exploration and culture. From Munich, we rented a car and drove 3 hours to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. It was this part of the trip whereby I really experienced snow for the first time in my life. I quickly found myself in a winter wonderland of white covered trees and felt the softness of each snowflake as they fell on my face. This was truly a magical experience that I will not soon forget.
As I sit here at home, I think about how my life in China will soon conclude. The many stories I have penned during my time and the memories I have created in Asia. I will soon return to my home in Brazil, to begin another chapter of my life, however, I will always look back on these amazing memories of Germany with a warm heart and smile.
H Collective, to me, is more than just a community that connects people. It is a community that can help make dreams come true, a community that provides opportunities for people to live life to the fullest. H Collective has given me the opportunity, creativity, memories, friendships, and most importantly, the passion to continue my craft. For this, I am truly grateful.” – Manu Machado
“It felt surreal to me when I saw that I had won a trip to anywhere in the world from H. I remember staring at my phone screen, heart beating fast, trying not to get my hopes up as I read the details. IT WAS REAL!
The trip would be with 2 other creatives I had never met and together we’d be traveling to Germany. The same day I won that trip I happened to get a remote job which made this trip possible to work and travel! It has been a dream of mine for a long time to travel and explore while working. To meet people from different areas and be creative together and it finally was happening. It would be my first time traveling internationally on my own and I was a mix of nervous, scared, excited and hopeful.
It made me feel better that the other girls going have traveled before and I could rely on them for getting around. I met Victoria in the airport and we quickly became friends as we dragged our luggages to find a train to our Airbnb. We met Manu for dinner the first evening and all of us were in awe that this was happening. A month ago I would have never thought that I’d be having dinner IN GERMANY, with girls I just met.
We explored Berlin, took photos everywhere, ate lots of good food, and walked miles until our legs hurt haha. It was an adventure of a lifetime and I will always treasure it. We even did a trip outside of Munich to the Neuschwanstein castle and it was one of the most magical moments in my life. It happened to snow the whole night before and the whole day while we were there. It was surreal to see this beautiful castle, perked up on a hill, covered in snow as the snow was lightly falling all around. I’m beyond thankful for H for hosting this giveaway and attributing to some of my favorite memories.” – Lorina Daiana
“I believe that internet and social media should bring us together to be stronger and better. This trip to Berlin and Munich with the girls has made that even more possible now. It’s not everyday that we win a free trip anywhere in the world with 2 other strangers. The crazy party is, it felt like family.
From the moment we saw each other for the first time to the moment we had to say our goodbyes, everything felt right.
We started our journey in Berlin as we had put on a list places to walk to and explore.
Of course, having 3 girls together only made it easier each stop to photograph and be photographed. We go to explore coffee shops, amazing restaurants, some of the major landmarks and definitely lots of leg pain from all the walking.
From there, we took off to Munich for our last 3 days where we got to get lost a bit more between train stations and neighborhoods. We also got to rent a car, ride 2 hours away from the city to see a castle that only seemed real in children’s books.
I am back home with my heart full and so thankful for a community like the H that has brought us together to live up to our dreams, to build together and to explore together.
Definitely couldn’t have chosen a better group to get lost with.” – Victoria Bonvicini
